The highly anticipated release of the iPhone 4G finally arrived last week. Prior to the iPhone 4G release, consumers stood in lines for hours to purchase the new smartphone and within four days of its release Apple had sold over 1.7 million phones. Despite the new features, the 4G version of the phone has met some negative speculation based on some minor technological problems. The issue I’m still debating is whether the iPhone is really worth the hype? Is this new version worth standing in line over night for, or spending hundreds of dollars on?
There are three main issues that are threatening the reputation of the iPhone 4G.
1) Reception Issues: Many users have reported that while holding the new phone in certain positions, the cell signal actually goes down.
2) OS4 Privacy Issues: This privacy issue deals with the iPhone carrier. The new iPhone 4G has a program that sends out OTA updates that can tell if a user is using a different cell phone carrier other than AT&T. If a user is using his/her phone with a different carrier, the iPhone automatically locks.
3.) Activation: The final issue that users are facing is the activation through iTunes. Some users are receiving error messages when trying to activate.
Obviously, the release of the new iPhone has stirred a lot of interesting conversation Impostor Twitter accounts have actually stated things like, “the iPhone is going to be recalled.” In the end, I think the problems with the new iPhone are minor. The phone still stands out as number one against its competitors. Personally, I think the iPhone will continue to fly off shelves and break records.
So, what do you think? Is the iPhone really worth standing in line for? Will you be purchasing the new version, or will you just stick with the 3G? Let us know your thoughts; the good and the bad!

Unfortunately the i phone does not work with the Verizon network. If it ever did I would consider purchasing one.
