451 Marketing is heading back to Austin, TX for the South by Southwest Interactive Festival. SXSW offers unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. The 18th annual SXSW Interactive festival will include networking events, start up ideas, compelling presentations and panels. As a first-timer, here are 5 things I am most excited about:
1) Traveling to Austin, TX
According to a news report from Money, Austin is the best city in the U.S. for adults ages 20 to 34. Austin is known for its job growth, affordability, and opportunities. Having mostly a younger population Austin slowly is becoming known as the biggest tech and start-up hub in the country. Austin is filled with modern trendy restaurants, bars, green spaces, and even a public swimming hole fed by natural springs!
2) Food & Music – Do I say more?
There’s much more than presentations and networking events happening at SXSWi. SXSW Music Festival will showcase over 2,200 acts ranging from the unsigned to the iconic musicians ranging from all genres. Acts like Mark Mothersbaugh, NOFX, T-Pain, Kelly Rowland, Richie Houghton, plus Mike Watt and John Doe to name a few of the bigger performers. Some of the best places to eat in Austin are conveniently at the festival in the form of a truck. There’s a food truck for any kind of food you could possibly think of. Definitely make sure to check them out!
3) The People
There are many different networking opportunities offered throughout the event. Whether you’re trying to find your niche or branch out, hang out at lounges where you can relax, get some work done and connect, or unwind at a party after a long day, they have it all. Not only that, all of the different industries that are represented at SXSWi will ensure some creative and unique conversations.
4) Events, Workshops, & Panels
SXSW is known to have the best of the best industry speakers. The speakers come from all different backgrounds giving visitors the best insight in all different kinds of industries. J.J. Abrams and Andrew Jarecki, the creative forces behind Star Wars will be speaking. Kevin Plank, CEO of Under Armour, will speak upon the plans to revolutionize and fundamentally change global health and technology. Also a couple other big names: the founder of Mashable and CMO for BuzzFeed.
Austin has endless opportunities at any time of the night. It is known as the live music capital of the world. With nearly 200 venues, you are able to find blues, jazz, rock, country, hip-hop, or punk shows nightly. Also in Austin, you are able to learn the famous Texas Two-Step in the last true Texas dance hall, known as The Broken Spoke.
What are you looking forward to?
